Overview

In Chicago Express, players become investors vying to control the development of railway lines across the American Midwest after the post-Napoleonic era. The core gameplay revolves around strategically bidding on railway shares and expansions of the rail lines, primarily the titular Chicago Express, aiming to connect key cities and increase the value of your stock portfolio.

Each turn, players participate in auctions to influence which railroad companies expand and in which direction. By carefully managing their investments and influencing the railway's routes, players seek to maximize the value of their shares, earning the most income possible. However, expansions are dictated by available funds and strategic decisions, which could benefit others more. The game ends after a set number of rounds, with the player possessing the highest value of stocks becoming the victor.
