Overview

Hadrian's Wall casts you as a Roman General overseeing the construction and maintenance of a section of the famed wall in Britannia. Each game represents six years, demanding careful management of your limited workforce and resources. Each turn presents you with choices: construct fortifications, establish trade routes with the locals, improve your cohort's training, or appease the Emperor in Rome. The central mechanic revolves around "flipping" cards and then "writing" the results into your personal player board, a detailed representation of your milecastle and surrounding area. You must efficiently allocate your dwindling resources to satisfy the demands of both the Roman Empire and the increasingly restless Picts, balancing long-term planning with immediate needs.

The game offers a uniquely engaging experience, creating a sense of accomplishment as your wall slowly takes shape and your domain prospers. However, you'll constantly face tough decisions. Do you invest in building a bathhouse to improve morale, or prioritize reinforcing the gate against barbarian raids? Every action has consequences, and shrewd resource management is essential to emerge as the most successful General. The interplay between card selection, worker placement (represented by your workers becoming unavailable), and your personal player board creates a deeply strategic puzzle that rewards careful planning and adaptation.
