Overview
Libertalia throws you headfirst into the cutthroat world of pirate captains, all vying for the most lucrative loot after each successful voyage. Each player begins with an identical deck of pirate crew member cards. Over three voyages, you'll secretly choose one of these crew members each round, simultaneously revealing them alongside your opponents. The trick is, identical characters might also be in your opponent's hands.
The variable phase order is where the real strategic challenge lies. Depending on the revealed characters, actions resolve in a different sequence each round, leading to tense decisions about when to strike, when to steal, and when to play it safe. Clever hand management is crucial as you try to amass the most valuable sets of treasures, knowing that what appears beneficial one round could be disastrous in the next. Libertalia provides a unique blend of anticipation and adaptation, where predicting your opponents' moves is just as important as optimizing your own plunder.
