Planet puts you in the role of a nascent world shaper, competing to cultivate the most vibrant ecosystem across your own unique, twelve-sided planet core. Each player receives a blank globe and, over the course of the game, drafts hexagonal landscape tiles depicting varied terrain like deserts, oceans, and icy plains. The challenge lies in strategically placing these tiles to attract and nurture specific animal species. The gameplay revolves around a drafting phase where you carefully select tiles, considering both their immediate impact on your planet's landscape and their potential for future synergy.

Scoring in Planet isn't simply about covering your globe; it's about creating the ideal habitats for creatures to thrive. Animal cards are awarded to players who fulfill specific landscape requirements, such as having the largest contiguous desert or the most mountains bordering an ocean. You must balance your own secret objectives with the opportunities presented by the available tiles, all while keeping an eye on what your opponents are doing.
