Overview
Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun places you in ancient Egypt, tasked with developing districts around the central obelisk. Each round, players choose dice from around the obelisk to perform actions, but the color and placement of the dice determine their legality and the resources they generate. The sun casts different shadows throughout the day, corrupting some action spaces and purifying others, forcing you to constantly adapt your strategy. Balancing resource management with the construction of buildings and the appeasement of the gods is key to accumulating victory points and ultimately shaping the city to your favor.
The central mechanic of drafting dice under fluctuating light conditions creates a unique and engaging puzzle. As the sun's position changes, previously advantageous actions become costly or even impossible, demanding careful planning and the ability to anticipate the consequences of future turns. Scoring occurs periodically throughout the game, rewarding players who have focused on specific gods or district developments, but with each scoring round, the landscape of the game changes, requiring constant vigilance and strategic adjustments to outmaneuver your opponents and claim victory.
